- COAPS Time
In February 2020, COAPS replaced the older Invtime and Convtime procedures with
COAPS Time procedures that convert between the minute timestamp used in the SAMOS
Ship NetCDF back into a standard year/month/day/hour/minute time (and vice
versus). The original codes were developed during WOCE and were not designed to
work beyond the end of 2020. The new COAPS Time functions will work for any date
after 01-01-1980 00:00 UTC (the reference time used by WOCE and SAMOS) and are available as C, FORTRAN, IDL, or Perl source
code. The codes are published under a open source liscence (see top of each code
file).
- True Winds
The True Winds procedures compute meteorological true winds (direction from which the wind is blowing, relative to true north; and the speed relative to the fixed earth) from input course, heading, ship spped, and ship-relative wind speed and direction. They are available in C, FORTRAN, and IDL source along with test I/O.
Additional materials, including read codes and a NetCDF Primer, can be found on the WOCE website.
