Partnerships are essential to the success of the SAMOS initiative. A joint workshop in 2006 focused on establishing a data exchange whereby the SAMOS data center will provide data qality evaluation of meteorological data collected by the Global Ocean Surface Underway Data Pilot Project (GOSUD). In return, GOSUD data center will evaluate the near-surface ocean data (e.g., sea temperature, salinity, conductivity, etc.) collected by vessels contributing to SAMOS. The details of this exchange are being discussed and a pilot exchange should begin in 2007.
